To use Cambly, you will generally need a good internet connection. There are a few tools which can help you determine if you have a good connection.
Here are two tests you can take to see if there are any issues with your internet connection.
Test 1: OpenTok Doctor will test your connection and your devices. This page can tell you if your camera or microphone are not working. If you see an issue during this test, please send a screenshot of the test results to Cambly by filling out this form here.
Test 2: Speed Test will show you the download and upload speeds of your connection. If you're noticing problems with this test, please let us know what your speed is when you contact us.
Other common problems can come from anything that disrupts service on Cambly, so please try disabling antivirus software or firewalls before connecting to Cambly. Corporate networks, universities, and other public wifi sources sometimes block the ports that Cambly needs in order to communicate with our servers.
Students have also improved their connection with these tricks:
- close any programs or applications running in the background of your device
- make sure there are no other devices using your network while you're trying to chat on Cambly
- move closer to your router or plug directly into it if possible
If you notice a problem when you open a certain page on Cambly while you're using the Google Chrome web browser, then there's a lot of helpful information you can send us to help us fix the problem ASAP!
