Cambly is a great tool for beginners! We have many English beginner students and they really enjoy chatting on Cambly. We have some special advice to help beginner students get the most out of Cambly:
1) Schedule lessons with your favorite tutors
Scheduled lessons are important for constant & consistent progress with tutors. Students can schedule short 15 minute lessons (or up to 2 hour lessons!) just by clicking the calendar icon or searching for available tutors (click here for more details about scheduling lessons).
2) Enroll in a beginner course
We have lots of learning materials that help provide structure and methodology to Cambly sessions. To search for the course that's right for you, click here to see our Courses.
3) Use the automatic translation tool during sessions
We know it can be hard for beginner students to chat with native English speakers who do not speak their language. Our in-session text chat automatically translates between English and your native language; that way, it's even easier for both you and your tutor to communicate.
4) Schedule a lesson with tutors who speak your language
Since you are starting as a beginner, we suggest you find tutors who speak your language. Just type your own language in English in the search field on Cambly's homepage here.
5) Watch your session videos
It is much easier to learn through repetition! All of your Cambly sessions are recorded and each of those videos is available to you at anytime on your Progress page here. These video sessions make studying easier since you can review your videos as many times as you want. You can even download them and watch them from anywhere!
Chatting with a native speaker is how language learning actually happens. It may seem quite challenging at first but, over time, this challenge gets more and more rewarding - especially for beginners!
