In your first lesson, tutors will familiarize themselves with your strengths, areas for improvement, and what you’re committed to achieving. They’ll also share their teaching style, approach and areas of expertise with you. Then you’ll start your next lesson together by reviewing and discussing the learning plan they created for you. Based on your learning plan, your tutor designs engaging, informative lessons aimed at developing specific skills or abilities. Each lesson has clear learning objectives that build towards your goals. As you move through the learning plan together, your tutor will make modifications based on what you’ve accomplished and what you should focus on next. They’ll guide you, correct you, and answer all your questions along the way providing:

Can I take lessons with Pro tutors if I have a Private+ plan?
No, but if you’d like to work with Pro tutors, you can upgrade your plan. The unused value of your current plan will go towards the cost of your new plan.
Is Pro for all English levels?
Yes, you’ll find tutors that specialize in working with certain levels and many that work with all English proficiency levels.

Where can I find feedback from my tutor?
Your tutor will provide verbal feedback throughout your lessons. If written feedback from your tutor is important to you, be sure to let them know.
Any written feedback from your tutor can be found in your Lesson History along with an interactive transcript that will become available a day or so after each lesson.
Will I get homework assignments?
Your learning plan is based on your unique goals and learning style. If you like extra practice that you can do on your own, let your tutor know. They can recommend independent activities that strengthen the skills and abilities you’re focusing on.
If you learn best in the classroom, or just don’t have time, share this with your tutor. Either way, discuss this topic in your first lesson together.

Can I work with a tutor that isn’t Pro?
As a Pro learner, you have access to all tutors and lesson types. So, feel free to explore and mix up the way you learn!
That said, the full Pro learning experience—a personalized learning plan, structured lessons, and in-depth feedback—is only available with Pro tutors. They’ve been carefully selected to support you on a deeper level and help you reach your goals faster.
What's the difference between a Super tutor and a Pro tutor?
Super Tutors have met with over 700 Cambly students with positive feedback. A large number of students have found these tutors helpful in reaching their English goals.
Pro tutors are highly qualified tutors selected for their proven success in helping learners grow and specialize in structured learning. You must have a Pro plan to take lessons with these tutors.
Will I work with the same tutor in every lesson?
Because Pro lessons build off each other following your learning plan, you’ll benefit most from working with the same tutor for a period of time. However, you’re free to work with as many tutors as you like for a variety of expertise or more scheduling flexibility.
We recommend finding 2-3 tutors that match your goals. Once you find a tutor you want to work with, lock in time with them by scheduling weekly lessons.
